Off-campus Examination Options

Exams are available to proctors noon Pacific Standard Time (PST) the day before the on-campus exam date until midnight PST on the exam day. Students must complete the exam no later than the on-campus exam date. Proctors are responsible for returning all exam materials by fax or email (scan) immediately following completion of the exam. Detailed instructions will be included in an email to proctors shortly before the date of the exam. If students or proctors do not follow the exam procedures, the exam may be forfeited.

Option 2: Student secures proctor

Students are responsible for finding a qualified proctor to administer each exam. Acceptable proctors are immediate supervisors, corporate education coordinators, teachers, professors, administrators, or full-time staff members at a secondary school, college, university, or testing center. Family members, friends, and co-workers are unacceptable as proctors. Most acceptable proctors are willing to supervise examinations without charging a service fee. However, any fees incurred are the student’s responsibility.

Option 3: Testing Center

The below website may assist you in securing a Testing Center.

Consortium of College Testing Centers: http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/

Option 1, 2, and 3 Require Student Examination Agreement (SEA) Form

All students, no matter which option they choose, must submit the SEA Form to the M.S. Online Office. Submit by fax (310-825-2473) or in email with electronic or scanned signature (msengrol@seas.ucla.edu), at least two weeks prior of each exam. The SEA Form confirms that the student’s proctor has a business email address, reliable access to the internet, able to download and print PDF documents, and access to a scanner and fax machine (to send the completed exams to the M.S. Online office). An email confirmation is sent to both student and proctor when SEA Form is received.

Students who do not submit the SEA Form on time risk forfeiting being allowed to take the exam.
